Composite Aircraft Fabricator Program - Aircraft Structures and Advanced Composites (ASAC)

* This program can be custom designed as an On-Site course to be instructed at your facility.

This program has been designed to deliver a high level of both theoretical knowledge and practical skills development in a concentrated, focused and shorter time frame than standard courses offered by most post-secondary educational institutions. Trainees will experience a comprehensive selection of information related to the most modern aircraft manufacturing methods, with particular emphasis upon the processes of vacuum bag open molding and curing of composite aircraft structures.

Graduates from this course will be thoroughly familiar with the safe work practices, the physical and chemical properties of composite materials, specialized handling requirements, process specifications and the federal regulatory requirements affecting his/her work and work place.

This course is divided into three separate modules of instruction. Each module involves lectures and a series of practical in-shop exercises for the topics involved.

Duration:
15 days (120 hrs.)* of theory/ lectures and shop exercises
*Course can be tailored to meet individual time constraints / requirements.

  • Resin /matrix materials
  • Pre-preg materials
  • Basic laminate design
  • Vacuum bagging techniques
  • Techniques of open and closed molding
  • Part Trimming and net form inspection
  • Oven and autoclave curing processes
  • Damage types and causes
  • Composites structural repair methods
  • Fastener installation in composite structures

 

Accreditations: CCAA – this is a Canadian Council for Aviation and Aerospace Accredited Course

 

Prerequisites
Prior composites experience or training is highly reccommended.
